Chalet Le Iceberg lies just 200 meters from the fast 4-seater chair-lift that gives direct access to the huge & very snow-sure Les 4 Vallées ski area. With 86 lifts and 400km pistes it is Switzerland's largest —and sunniest—ski-area. It comprises of Thyon-Les Collons, Veysonnaz, Nendaz and, on the other side of the famous 3330 meters high Mont Fort, glamorous Verbier. This skiers paradise offers superb skiing, snow boarding & tour skiing for all skill-levels, from beginners to extreme.

With the use of over 215 snow-canons Les 4 Vallées just about guarantees excellent ski-conditions during the ski season that generally runs from mid-December to mid-April. From mid-November there is a good chance that lifts are open during the weekends, too. Classes of the Swiss Ski School start in nearby Thyon, where you will also find the award-winning freestyle snowboard park. Lots of pleasant restaurants & cafés scattered on and off piste, some also excellent meeting places to meet non-skiing friends for lunch or drinks.

Chalet Le Iceberg guests have free use of our two ski-lockers, right by the chair-lift. At these heated lockers you can leave your ski-equipment overnight. This way you needn't carry clunky gear back and forth each day, so the short walk to the ski-lift is a breeze (and almost as good as ski-in ski-out).

Non-skiers —young & old— need not be bored: there are ample opportunities for winter hikes, snow-shoe hikes (which we highly recommend!) and sledding. There are a few wonderful Thermal Baths in the valley which are great for adults & kids alike. Sion is a handsome medieval town and offers museums, shopping, cafés & a great Farmer's Market on Friday. Join the international jet-set in Verbier, Crans-Montana, Saas Fee or Zermatt. Or just stay at the chalet, bake a cake (recipes to be found in our collection of Swiss cook books), curl up & read a book by the cozy fire place or heat up in our unique panorama-sauna and then run outside & jump into the fresh snow!

The Swiss Alps in our sunny Valais region are just so stunningly beautiful, and there is so much to do for everybody. To begin with, but not exclusively, for  outdoor lovers: hiking, (mountain-)biking, swimming, mountaineering, golf, rafting, horseback riding, paragliding & more. Chalet Le Iceberg is situated right in the heart of the Alps so all these activities can be undertaken either directly from our chalet or within just a short drive.

The landscapes are varied and always enchanting: friendly, flower filled Alpine meadows, untouched glacier valleys, dense forests, rugged high plains and everywhere surrounded by magnificent mountains. There are many well marked hikes suitable for all ages & levels of fitness, including fun & exciting - and at the same time nice & flat - hikes along ancient irrigation channels hacked into steep mountain sides, great for kids!

Great golf opportunities offered in four 18 hole golf-courses surrounded by mountains near by. Biking is definitely challenging. And swimming in crystal clear lakes is refreshing (and the Valais region is Switzerland's sunniest with more than 300 sun-days per year!). And our region offers more: picturesque wooden villages, historic towns, farmers' markets, museums, thermal baths, music festivals, cow-fights, great local arts & crafts, slow food & wine. Lake Geneva is only about an hour's drive are famous sites like the Aletch Glacier or Zermatt, where you can take the Gornergrat cog railway to the foot of the impressive Matterhorn.

You can of course also choose to just stay and enjoy the peace & quiet of the chalet: let the ever changing views take your breath away several times a day; lie on a recliner & read a good book on the huge south-facing sun-deck; make your own jam from sweet local apricots, see the evening mountains turn orange and purple from the sauna-window; light a fire or cook Valaisian sausages on the natural stone  BBQ. Do absolutely nothing.

Le Iceberg is a welcoming 'home away from home' in any season. Spring can be unruly with four seasons in one day but the fruit trees in the valley explode in blossoms. Summer is lush with thousands of Alpine flowers, often subtropical temperatures down in the valley but always pleasantly cool higher up. Fall is calm and quiet with golden forests & blue skies and is maybe our favourite time of year. Come stay for a (long)weekend stay, a (mid)week or longer: Chalet Le Iceberg is happy to welcome you any time of year.

WEATHER & SKI-CONDITIONS : (January 4th 2018) There has been quite a bit of snowfall since beginning November and this week MeteoSwiss predicts major snow fall again. All in all this makes for an excellent start of the ski season, and with almost 2 meters of snow on the mountain the ski-conditions are excellent.

RENOVATIONS: The major chalet renovations were completed by mid-December 2017. Le Iceberg now has a 3rd bathroom, an integrated, cozy bunk-bed, a huge south-facing sun-deck and a spectacular new sauna with window & garden access. Check out the pictures below to follow the renovations that started end of August 2017.

VILLAGE NEWS: Check out photos below for a few nice moments around Chalet Le Iceberg: how a helicopter landed & parked in the village street for a medical emergency (which turned out not to be one); sharing our garden with a huge buck and a deer; ever changing views from our balcony; the change-over from Fall to Winter that took place these last few weeks.

"A lovely spacious house, personal, with all amenities and serviceS provided. Inspired, with care for details, which is the most important thing there is (I think). A beautiful view time and time again, no matter which direction you look, no matter what time of day (or night). Enchanting nature, pure & clean. We are in the habit of commenting and providing a figure on a scale of 0-10.  Le Iceberg and Maarten get 10 in our opinion."

"Wow Maarten! It has become incredibly beautiful! We have just enjoyed the sauna, what a great spacious sauna! And that window! The extra bathroom is beautiful too. And he smells so wonderfully of wood! The bedroom with the new bunk bed also completely top. Our nephew and our nieces must certainly use this in the future. Iceberg was already fantastic and has now become even more beautiful, the absolutely perfect place for us. We feel completely at home as always. Thank you for sharing this with us!"

"This is a charming Swiss chalet, with a high altitude location with gorgeous views from every room. Our teenage boys (with a dad with a teenage heart for skiing!) absolutely loved staying here - especially the option to ski from Les Collons to Verbier and back - all in a comfortable day of skiing. The two lockers at the local ski lift that kept boots warm - and skis were where you wanted them in the morning - was perfect.   The huge wrap-around veranda to enjoy the sun shine was simply glorious! The three bedrooms on the lower level allowed our boys a room each - they were thrilled, and even commented on the view, their ability to see stars at night, and the views of mountains in every direction.   The bedroom closets were empty - it was so convenient to take clothes out of one’s luggage. We do Air BnB a lot, so it is especially nice to rent a home, prepared in this thoughtful manner. And there was an excellent strong wifi, which was appreciated immensely by those working or not... Lastly, the directions from and communication with Maarten were exemplary; he was very accommodating and understanding with all of our e-mail queries. Maarten also provided information folders (at the chalet) that included lists of restaurants, hikes, spas, attractions, tips... these were a wonderful bonus.   We look forward to hopefully finding this chalet free again in future, so that we can come back and stay here at different times of the year --- Thank you, Maarten for sharing your home so that we indeed had a great Christmas - and a big thank you for the special treat of a decorated Christmas tree and chocolates that greeted us on arrival!"
